If you are carrying around your Android phone with an Airtel or Vodafone postpaid SIM, there is a good news for you. Google has finally started to roll out the option of direct carrier billing for all Airtel, Vodafone postpaid customers in India.
While the feature of carrier billing is nothing new since the Idea Cellular customers are already enjoying it, the addition of Airtel and Vodafone services is huge. Add up the three, and 186.26 million Internet connections across India can now take advantage of the feature.
But, it seems Google has not completely tested it and is just an experiment, because a lot of consumers have reported the feature as buggy, even so the Google Play Store isn’t able to verify user telecom operator and hence, not being able to initiate a confirmation SMS. Sigh!
Nonetheless, it a welcome addition in the growing market of smartphone users and we expect Google to sort out the implications with operators, whatever.
