Gboard app now officially available for Android

Google Keyboard for Android has received a new official name — Gboard. Gboard keeps all the tricks that were present earlier including search, swipe typing, voice typing and more. What is new is the built-in Google Search support which will help you to search and send information, GIFs, emojis and more — right from your keyboard.

As an added bonus, it also supports multilingual typing to help you switch languages on the fly.

The new built-in Google Search feature works with all of your Android apps so if you are looking for an address of some unknown place, just hit the G button on the keyboard, punch in the query and it will pull up the results for you to share with your friend, instantly. It saves a lot of time, which is wasted while switching between apps looking for the information.

It also works with while you search for videos, images, news articles, sports scores, and endless possibilities.

You can also search and share emoji and GIFs. Instead of scrolling and scrolling to find ? or ?, just search “monkey” to find that emoji you want. Or, find a GIF for the perfect reaction. GIF sharing works today in Google Messenger, Allo and Hangouts, with more apps coming soon as developers add image keyboard support.

Gboard is now more smarter with auto-correct feature. You can also type in multiple languages within the same conversation without manually switching between them. Just select your languages and type.

Gboard will work in more than 100 languages as it rolls out today, and will be coming to more languages over the coming months.
