HTC to bring new 2017 flagship with Snapdragon 835

HTC U Play

HTC is currently betting big on their latest offering i.e. the HTC U series. There are two devices in the latest HTC U series, the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play. Out of which, the HTC U Ultra is flagship HTC device with Snapdragon 821 chipset in it.

Now there is new information about another plan from the company. President of  HTC for smartphones and connected devices was in an interview with Tbreak where he told about future plans of the company. He also revealed that HTC is also planning on next flagship product with latest flagship chipset. He said, ” Every time there is a brand new CPU with power that we can leverage, we’re always at the forefront doing that. Some people are talking about the timing [of our release] but timing was determined 9 months ago. This is the best CPU out there. When the next flagship CPU comes, HTC will be one of the very first tier doing that.”

This simply clarifies that the company is aware and will bring new flagship as soon as the next flagship chipset i.e. the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is out. Talking about the timing of HTC U Ultra, he said that the company is aware that currently the most powerful chipset is Snapdragon 821 and the HTC U Ultra comes with it. And whenever there will be a new chipset, HTC will be one of the first companies to offer a flagship product.

He also said that there won’t be any new flagship product at MWC from any brand this year with the Snapdragon 835 chipset as it’s not ready yet. Talking about the HTC U series, he said that the company did this just in order to look back and fill the gap of a flagship between HTC 10 and the next gen flagship with Snapdragon 835, ” When we will look back, it will be clear why HTC introduced [these new phones.] We want to have a couple of months of leadership before the next flagship CPU comes. But that will be in another period of time- not at MWC. Not for us or any other player. I can tell you that for sure. When the new CPU comes, HTC will have another flagship.”
