Lenovo today launched their new budget device called the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus. It is having good specs for the price the company is asking. But seems like we have some other competitors to this phone in the current market. But we have some true competitors to this phone which are having nearly similar specs as well as features. Design:

What you are asking design for a Rs. 8000- 9000 phone? yes you can now expect better designed phones in 2016 as we expected in starting. We had already expected that in 2016, we will see more premium design in budget smartphone segment.

Now we have 3 phones in competition which offer nearly similar specs. Now if we start with Redmi Note Prime, this is an smartphone which was an upgrade to the original Redmi Note phone. This is having an ugly plastic body with glossy finish. So this doesn’t win any crown in the design segment.

Next device come the Meizu M2 which is also having a plastic body but looks much better than Redmi Note prime. It is having design inspired by Apple iPhone 5C which looks great even with plastic build.

Now we have the latest phone in this category with full metal body which is Aluminium. It is also the thinnest with just 7.9mm.

So the Lenovo K5 Plus wins the crown of best designed smartphone.

Display :

In our “How well a budget smartphone of 2016 could be equipped? ” article we speculated some specs & features in the upcoming smartphones & trend. So there we expected that 2016  will see more & more phones with Full HD display.

Now we are seeing the results. Right now we have only one phone of 2016 which is the Lenovo K5 Plus. All the other smartphones are from 2015 & with just HD display instead of Full HD. Both the Lenovo K5 Plus as well as Meizu M2 come with 5-inch display while the Redmi Note Prime comes with 5.5-inch display.

Processor :

Processor has also seen a huge upgrade in 2015. We are getting mid-range processors in very budget price. The Lenovo K5 Plus comes with an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor. While the Meizu M2 sports a Mediatek MT6735 Quad-Core processor. The Redmi Note Prime sports a Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor.

So once again the Lenovo K5 Plus is a clear winner.

RAM & Internal Storage:

All the competitors are having 2GB of RAM along with 16 GB of internal storage except the Redmi Note Prime. the Redmi Note Prime is having just 8GB of internal storage.

Camera:

Now this is the department, everyone is curious about. All the smartphones come with 13MP of rear camera along with 5MP camera on the front. But we were not much impressed with the camera capabilities of the Meizu M2 but it was OK for a budget device.

Battery:

Battery is a very very important aspect before buying a phone. We always check for the battery capacity of a phone before buying.

The Meizu M2 comes with a sufficient 2500mAh battery which is non-removable. On the other hand the Redmi Note Prime comes with 3100mAh battery inside it which is a user removable one. The third one in the comparison is Lenovo K5 Plus which is having 2750 mAh battery which is also removable type.

Operating System :

The Meizu M2 runs Android Lollipop based on their own Flyme OS. The newly launched Lenovo K5 Plus rung Android Lollipop based on Vibe UI. The Redmi Note Prime runs much dated Android Kitkat 4.4 based on MIUI 7 which is the latest one.
