
Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo, announced some very good & affordable smartphones back in 2015. The company got huge success with it’s partnership with Flipkart to sell it’s phones online. This was the year when company also completed the buy out of Motorola Mobility from Google Inc. The company wants to double it’s production in India as it want’s to become no. 2 smartphone seller in world’s fastest growing market for smartphone.
The company wants to increase production in Chennai facility as well as they wants more & more models from the company to be available in India.The are interested in bringing Moto Maker also in India. Moto Maker is a service from Motorola that lets you customize your smartphone according to your requirement.The service is available in many countries but not in India due to some supply constraints.
“We will increase the local production to 10 million units next year. Right now, we have a peak capacity of 6 million,” Chen Xudong, president of mobile business group of Lenovo and chairman of Motorola Mobility’s operating board.
Further he said on bringing Moto Maker “It’s logistically easier for us to ship multiple phones, each with its own customization, locally than shipping a single customized phone from China”
He also said that they are considering India as their top priority & they will be launching products globally as well as in India. Earlier India was not priority for Lenovo but now it will be. Any new phone launched globally will come to India very soon. He said “We are changing strategy and putting India in the first wave of product launches, which was not the case before”
