Smartphones prices to go up by 8% due to GST: Coolpad India CEO

Coolpad India yesterday launched a new device in India. The new device from Coolpad is a selfie focused smartphone. The selfie focused smartphone from Coolpad is called as the Coolpad Mega 2.5D .

Now there is some news about the future of smrtphones in India. As per the new rule from government, the GST is going to be applicable all over the country as unified taxation system. Now Coolpad India CEO Mr. Syed Tajuddin was in an interview with PTI where he told that the smartphone prices will go up by 8% in India after the GST. His official statement says, “Depending on the rate of GST, prices could go up 7-8 per cent” . He also said that the GST will result in a High Jump in the ‘Online sales’ in India.  The company has also reduced it’s sales target in India from 4 million to 2.5-3 million only, “In the last 2-3 months, online sales of mobile phones have slowed down a bit on account of additional taxes by certain states. We now expect to see sales to be about 2.5-3 million units this year (by March),”

He also said that they are working with Amazon for offline sales through its seller who will deliver the product in offline form also, “We are working on a pilot with Amazon.in for offline sales where they supply to the retailers. Both Coolpad and Amazon.in have invested in the pilot and once we have the results around September, we will decide on the future course”
