Twitter to change its timeline to use algorithm: BuzzFeed

If you have a Twitter account, just go  to Twitter page and check for some trending topics. It will show you ‘RIPTwitter’ as a trending topic worldwide.

Twitter, the social networking site which is totally different from others with it’s unique feature like follow/unfollow instead of friend/unfriend. Now according to a report from Buzzfeed, the company is working to introduce a new algorithm based timeline which could make it look like Facebook. This major change is expect to be live as soon as next week.

The current timeline of Twitter shows the latest tweet first but with the new algorithmic timeline, the company is planning something new. With the new algorithmic timeline, it will reorder tweets depending on what Twitter’s algorithm thinks people most want to see. But we are quite unsure about it, if it will be mandatory to every user or the company will give an option to choose from.

I’m glad 10x-ing (if you want to call that fixing, whatev) Twitter ain’t my job, but if it were, we’d launch the algorithmic feed tomorrow.”
