Wire (Windows App available), an ultra private messaging service launched by Skype cofounder

Skype Co-founder Janus Friis along with a team of ex-Skype employees has launched Ultra-private messaging service with Video calling support named as ‘Wire’. Wire comes with End to End encryption for messages, text, call and video as well. For Wire 50 person engineer team worked together and brings out encryption technologies to the Wire. This service gives us saftey when we are online, feel secure due to end to end encryption.

“We believe Wire is unique in the industry with always-on encryption for all conversation(s), in groups or 1:1, with simultaneous support for multiple devices,” Wire Chief Technology Officer Alan Duric said in a statement.

“Everything is end-to-end encrypted: That means voice and video calls, texts, pictures, graphics – all the content you can send,” Wire Executive Chairman Janus Friis told Reuters.

The Danish entrepreneur was a co-founder of Skype, first released in 2003, which was later sold to a series of owners and is now a unit of Microsoft Corp.

TECHNICAL OVERVIEW:(According to the Wire website)
Text messages and pictures use Off-the-Record (OTR) end-to-end encryption. Wire uses the Axolotl ratchet and pre-keys which are optimized for mobile messaging.
Voice calls use the WebRTC standard. More precisely DTLS is used for key negotiation and authentication and SRTP is used for encrypted media transport. This means that voice calls are end-to-end encrypted with perfect forward secrecy enabled without compromising HD call quality.
The encryption works transparently in the background and doesn’t need to be activated first. It doesn’t get in the way of usability or reduce the feature set and avoids the complexity that is common to secure messengers.
