Last month we reported that Lollipop was gaining the market share but Kitkat was still on top. I we take a look at the percentage share of all the versions of Android, it is clear that KitKat is still on top with 35.5% of market share & then come Android Lollipop with 17.1% which is also very highly adopted Android version because of major redesign.
Android Marshmallow has also gain some percentage since last month. In the report of January, it was having 07% of the total market share . But now Marshmallow has moved up to 1.2% of total. IN the month of January 2016, KitKat was having a total percentage of 36.1%. So KitKat saw some drop in the percentage because more & more devices are getting Lollipop or Marshmallow update.
Viewer Note: This data is gathered from the new Google Play Store app, which supports Android 2.2 and above, so devices running older versions are not included. However, in August, 2013, versions older than Android 2.2 accounted for about 1% of devices that checked in to Google servers (not those that actually visited Google Play Store).
