Android Pay coming to the UK in next month

Google announced Android Pay back in September 2015 while announcing the Android Marshmallow. Android Marshmallow 6.0 is the first Android that brought native payment support to Android. With this version, Fingerprint support was also added to Android by Google.

Now according to The Telegraph, Google is bringing their much awaited Android Pay payment system to the United Kingdom. Android Pay is the direct rival to Apple’s Apple Pay. The company will announce that Android Pay will be available in Britain starting the end of next month. This will give a major boost to the mobile payment industry in the country & many more users as well as shopkeepers will move to Android Pay.

Apple launched it’s payment system Apple Pay back in July last year & it was successful for the company. The Telegraph reports, “The UK is seen as a battleground for mobile payments because of the high take-up of card payments and wide availability of contactless terminals.

Recent figures from Transport for London show that more than 35,000 journeys a day are now made using mobile devices, a number that has risen seven-fold since Apple Pay was integrated with the capital’s Oyster contactless ticketing system last year
