In shark contrast to Apple putting a fight in favor of keeping privacy intact of even terrorists using its devices, Amazon has yesterday decided to remove encryption from its Tablets.
According to tb Robin Handaly, an Amazon spokesperson:
“In the fall when we released Fire OS 5, we removed some enterprise features that we found customers weren’t using,” Handaly wrote in an email. “All Fire tablets’ communication with Amazon’s cloud meet our high standards for privacy and security including appropriate use of encryption.”
Device encryption is useful in prevention of data-theft from devices like smartphones, tablets as well. It creates password which is only known by rightful owner. It is worth noting that Amazon’s Kindle Fire, Fire Phone, and Fire TV devices run the same operating system—the Fire OS—but Amazon has removed encryption from only Tablets.
