Cheat Sheet: #Samsung, LG & nearly every other #Android vendor cheat in Benchmarking scores.

UntitledThis is truly funny and shocking at the sometime. It becomes evident how widespread is the phenomenon  of “inflating benchmarking score” by Android vendors, if you have a look at the above table. Samsung obviously leads the pack with its latest devices cheating in nearly most of the benchmark scores by margin of around 0-5% to up to above 10% in some cases. But it is followed by LG, HTC in this cheating bid as well :P.

So, what actually happens,

These devices detect the presence of certain benchmarks and raise thermal limits (and thus max GPU frequency) in order to gain an edge on those benchmarks, and also, detecting the presence of certain benchmarks and automatically driving CPU voltage/frequency to their highest state right away. Also on Snapdragon platforms, all cores are plugged in immediately upon benchmark detect.

Since the gain is still very less, so it actually kind of beats common sense as to why the vendors don’t actually invest in getting enhanced chips with better performance rather than investing in creating software to cheat the benchmarks.
