Google starts initial testing of Android Instant apps

Google

During the annual developer conference I/O 2016, Google showcased us a new feature coming to Google Play Store. The feature was dubbed as Android Instant Apps.

What is Android Instant Apps:

Android Instant Apps is a great initiative from Google for it’s Android platform. The feature is coming to Google Play Store soon. With this you can run any app without need to install it. In this, the app will be available in minimal features. It will be a preview of the full app.

Current development status:

With Android Instant Apps in mind, the company is planning to provide even better user experience to the user of Android. They have already changed few apps from BuzzFeed, Wish, Periscope, and Viki to the latest Android Instant Apps.

For developers:

To develop an instant app, you’ll need to update your existing Android app to take advantage of Instant Apps functionality and then modularize your app so part of it can be downloaded and run on-the-fly. You’ll use the same Android APIs and Android Studio project. Today, you can also take some important steps to be ready for Instant Apps development. The full SDK will be available in the coming months.
