Back in January Taiwanese manufacturer HTC announced the HTC U series of smartphones. In the HTC U series there were two smartphones, the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play. Out of the two , HTC U Ultra is company’s flagship and is already available for purchase but it comes with Snapdragon 821 which isn’t the latest. The company had already promised that there will be a new flagship when Snapdragon 835 is out.
Now it seems that time is coming near. A new smartphone from HTC is in works. According to a net report from venture beat / Evan Blass, the company is working on a new smartphone which was teased as HTC Ocean. Three devices were supposedly coming to us under the HTC Ocean series.
Now it seems the other two devices have been unveiled as HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play. The third one will be true flagship from HTC and will be coming to us as HTC U.
In terms of specifications, the HTC Ocean (HTC U) will come with a 5.5-inch WQHD (2160x1440p) display on the front which will surely be covered by a Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The smartphone will be powered but the same Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ . But what sets it apart isn’t Snapdragon 835, it’s the display and something called Edge Sense. With Edge Sense the company has some innovation to showcase. The metal frame will boast some pretty amazing features through software and hardware combinations. The HTC U smartphone will be coming as true flagship for 2017 and with HTC Sense 9 UI. The camera is said to be same as HTC U Ultra and the company will use 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor as main camera. For selfie lovers, there will be a new 16MP IMX351 sensor. Storage options will include a 64GB or 128GB of flash storage and microSD card slot will be available.
