WhatsApp enables end to end encryption for calls & chats

Sometime ago we reported about some of the leading messenger and social networking companies looking forward to bring encryption to their services. WhatsApp was one of them and Facebook was reportedly planning to bring encryption to WhatsApp within weeks.

WhatsApp has now enabled end to end encryption for chats and calls and is informing users randomly about this as can be seen in the above screenshot. The Apple-FBI tussle has brought encryption and user data privacy in sharp focus.

According to reports, Snapchat has already started exploring secure messaging system. Google is also planning to bring out encryption to its mail service. So, it is good to see companies keeping user’s interest in focus and doing more for keeping user data safe.
