Google provides dates for Android version updates for Nexus devices

Google has published a new post in their support page listing the dates of update to be made available for each device from thew house of Google which are the Nexus devices.

The page has a heading saying,’Timing for Android Software updates‘ where all the major Nexus devices are listed in a row.

Nexus devices that will get the latest version of Android directly from Google:

  • Nexus 5X
  • Nexus 6P
  • Nexus 6
  • Nexus 5
  • Nexus 4
  • Nexus 9
  • Nexus 7
  • Nexus 10

You need to go to Settings> About Phone/About Tablet> Check for updates to get the latest update available for your device. It may take few days for the update to be available for your device.

How long your Nexus will get updates:

This is a very important question that comes to everyone’s mind before buying a device. But when you are buying a Nexus device, you are getting a confirmation that the Nexus device you are buying will get updates of at least 2 next versions of Android with some minor updates also.

Android version updates
For at least two years from when the device became available on the Google Store.

Security patches
For the longer of 3 years from availability or 18 months from when the Google Store last sold the device.
