Google’s Play store vs Apple’s App store: Twice as many downloads but less revenue

Today App Annie has released data for App store and Play store as well. According to the report Google play store had double the number of download compared to the Apple app store. Although, Apple App store is still  able to generate 75% more revenue than than the Google Play store.

According to the report, Google Play Store reached 200 million downloads, and Apple App store reached 100 million downloads. Android is emerging in new markets like India, Brazil, Indonesia as well.

As we see in report Google once again emerge as a winner showed fantastic growth in emerging markets. Other way Apple generated 75% more revenue by using its powerful strategy.

Here are some interesting points  mentioned in reports:

  • Google showed strong impact in emerging markets Brazil, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and Mexico.
  • Apple gets more revenue because it has been strong in China, the U.S., and Japan.
